I know that writers imbellish history to make otherwise boring details more palateable, but Gods and Generals was a bit laborious and seemed to be a partial biography of General "Stonewall" Jackson. Something of the horrors of the war was skillfully revealed, but the picture was truncated and left too much of the history of the other Generals untold.

I had the feeling that the abrupt way the picture ended was designed to bring the pressure of public opinion to bear in an effort t force the making of the sequel "The Last Full Measure". I have copies of the films "Gettysburg" and "Gods and Generals", and I would welcome the sequel, but only if it would honor the men and women who gave so much of themselves to attempt to bring about a just resolution of the conflict. The complete trilogy would then be a treasure to own.
