 That is why the train though the canyon is so great as you are above the tree line and looking down.  Of course you can't yell Stop I want to take a picture here !!!!. 

Been to Picacho Peak ?  The railroad runs though it , but they have this great signage and you can look out over the area and see how the California Column was coming into the area.
