Interesting question BHH. However, I would suggest that Dixie, the unofficial national anthem refers to the "land of cotton" where "old times are not forgotten." To me, this is a clear reference to the antebellum slave society. Additionally, in the popular Southern song, The Bonnie Blue Flag, the refrain refers to "Southern Rights."
