In addition, you had Sickles making it "His park" and lobbying for money from the gitgo. Gettysburg has become from a government perspective, the face of the war. To get a really good idea of the differences go to Pea Ridge or Wilson's Creek. Nice, well preserved battlefields ... very close to ZERO money
