You have to give credit to the increasing muster roles to the 3 Confederate Conscription Acts that eventually drafted able bodied men from 18-50 and began in April 1862. By 1864, nearly 1/3 of all Confederate soldiers were draftees. Without those men forced into service, I doubt the confederate armies would have been able to continue as well as they did as long as they did.
