I think most folks think the war was Virginia, Pennsylvania, SC, and Georgia. And maybe Maryland, think they may be torn on whether Antietm (Sharpsburg) was a Maryland or Virginia battle.
Edit: Let me clarify. Most being folks who only have to learn about the war in school amd don't go much beyond that.
Yeah very few of those folks hear about the Battle of Olustee or the Battle of Natural Bridge in Florida. I love to read about the war along the Gulf Coast. All of the small raids and blockade running that went on. Its good stuff. If you focus on the coast you still have major actions like New Orleans, Mobile Bay, and the Campaign for Mobile. The battles of Galveston and Sabine Pass, Texas are also very interesting.
