Against my better judgement, I decided to look at a new quiz on Lincoln and the war that appeared on the ABC News website today. Here it is: Quiz: Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War - ABC News The first question asked what Jefferson Davis' occupation was before the Civil War. The answer of course is: "U.S. senator." He resigned from the Senate in January of 1861. This was one of the choices given, but the answer to the question given by ABC was: "Doctor." This completely ended my interest in ABC's quiz. Jefferson Davis graduated from West Point and was a soldier, a politician, and a planter. I don't know what medical school ABC thinks that he attended. This is what happens when journalists write history and only proves to me that the current day: "Journalistic malpractice" goes beyond news and politics but extends to the Civil War as well.
