JG6789- Both Mr. Clifford and Mr. Dana withdrew rather than pursue the case. Feel free to present your source saying that either man felt that the Government should pursue the case against Mr. Davis or had a good chance to obtain a conviction against him for treason. In the case of Mr. Dana, he said directly that the treason charge against Mr. Davis should not be pressed. See his letter to Attorney General William M.
