According to DANFS there were four ships named Wabash. http://www.history.navy.mil/danfs/w1-list.htm However, only the first Wabash served in the Civil War. Wabash II was originally completed in 1900 as the freighter Wartburg in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England for a German company and taken over by the US in 1917 as the SS Seneca and renamed USS Wabash in 1918. Wabash III was laid down in June '42 and commissioned in May '43 and was a gas tanker(AOG). Wabash IV was laid down in January 1970 and commissioned in November 1971 as a replenishment oiler (AOR).
