Doc: Maybe hate is too strong but I don't like it. Actually the other author is Bill Ward a former Longhorn lineman and that is not the reason I don't like it. I spent a morning one day debating him on why Stuart is not to blame for the loss at Gettysburg. I don't like the book because it seems to be a modern rehashing of the Lost Cause Mythology. It definitely is popular, but notably among the Lost Causers we've been talking about in the other thread, i.e. Lee didn't fail, it was all his subordinates' faults. Agree with your analysis, however, especially about the other authors.
