Johnny, I won't speak for JD, but I am personally quite pleased to hear that you enjoyed the book, and I am likewise grateful for the kind words. The question of what happened to that dispatch--why it didn't reach Lee--is one of the great mysteries of this situation, and one we will never know the answer to. The logical conclusion is that the courier was captured, but there is no way to know for sure. It makes one wonder wy the authorities in Richmond didn't take steps to insure that Lee had such critical intelligence, doesn't it? It's one of the great "what if's" of the story. Eric
