The original is in the Goodhue County Hstorical Society; the man wrote home to his wife on an at least weekly bassis... unfortunately this was the only one I was able to transcribe... they were not properly stored and thus have deteriated horribly and are barely readable. The current staff are a godsend doing what they can to preserve... but they are trying to repair generations of neglect... such letters are priceless and disapeared far too easily when tossed in a cardboard box and stored in an attic or basement for generations. I love the fact that this man was buying things for his wife and was so consistant in thinking about her. The kind of man women, I think, like to love.
