 Where the CS soldier was ragged was in his stomach thanks to the horrible work of Lucius Northrop.

When I pulled my great-great GF's records a few years ago, I realized the myth of the inadequate supply of uniforms to the Confederate soldier.  He got a regular issue of clothing.  Of course how much of it was shoddy I wouldn't know without looking at the diaries or letters of the folks in his regiment .
