I visit many NPS battlefields and in every instance, there are nearby stores that sell metal detectors to tourists. Relic hunting on NPS battlefields is already a felony. Are we to believe that the average tourist has friends in the vicinity that own land and allow them to relic hunt? Yea, right! And somewhere in the hills of NW Alabama there is a pig that can whistle... Relic hunting, not to be confused with archaelogical excavations, is never justified. NEVER! As has been pointed out, there is too much danger that a grave is being desecrated. Bama 46
