There good reason to believe his remains were unidentifiable. Garnett's brigade lead the charge to the angle and was essentially obliterated in front of the brigades of Armistead and Kemper. Garnett wore an old, blue, army overcoat that day. The theory is that he finally dismounted near the front and was dismembered in the close range artillery fire... HankC
