Pvt Clewell- A raid is an attack made to accomplish a specific purpose in enemy territory with no intention of gaining or holding terrain. It might be done for a number of purposes, such as capturing prisoners, destroying specific targets, obtaining information on enemy units, or disrupting the enemy's plans by distracting him or forcing him to react. The raiding force always withdraws after accomplishing its mission (or not). Surprise and speed of execution are of great importance for a raid to be successful. Does this help?
