Ole- It was Phil Kearney who called McClellan: "The Virginia Creeper" because of his timidity and slow progress in the Peninsular Campaign. When the decision was made to withdraw, Kearney protested vehemently (and profanely), and some present feared that he would be arrested. He was not, but that campaign would have been conducted much differently if Kearney had been in charge of it. PS- Here is the actual Virginia Creeper plant- Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia) It propagates slowly .
