Actually, Lee Marvin (I love him!) did serve in the Marines in the South Pacific and was wounded and did receive a Purple Heart but much of that story is a bit skewed. I always check Snopes.com for stuff like this. http://www.snopes.com/military/marvin.asp Regardless, he will always have my respect as a soldier and an actor.
