My husband's g-grandfather served with Stannard and Veazey during the Civil War. When I saw two volumes of Benedict's account of the action seen and performed by the Vermonters, I put in my bid. I was fortunate enough to win - AND got the volumes in plenty of time for our anniversary in July. (um... it was July 2; doNOT get me started on Sickles! Since only a certain number of such volumes were printed, is there any way for us to find out how many of this particular account was printed/or still in existence? I recall asking the seller at the time, but he had no idea. I did find two old news clippings in the pages, but there is no indication what newspaper they would be from. Both clippings date from the early 1900's - one is an account of a pogrom against some Jewish residents in Russia; one is an obituary of a gentleman who helped to get Grover Cleveland elected. Thanks for any help.
