I love college football, but don't have a clue about the BCS. There's a good story in this week's Sports Illustrated about the need for a Division I playoff system (there are playoffs in each of the other NCAA divisions) that essentially points to the Rose Bowl people as the primary reason for blocking the prospect of a playoff system. Seems there's too much tradition (not to mention money) involved for those folks to change. The best line in the story came from playoff proponents who said they can't believe that the possibility are having a playoff system is being held hostage by the Rose Bowl Parade.

There's also a good story on Brett Farve in this issue, SI's sportsman of the year. I've always been a Farve fan, but this story confirms why. His work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, among other things, is compelling.
