I've attached the boxart photo of my next painting project. A 1st Lieutenant CSA Horse Artillery 1862.

I intend to paint as per the photo but if anyone can see any inaccuracies or have any suggestions I'd be glad to hear from you.

I wasn't aware that constipation was a particular problem for the CW soldier. Puts a whole new meaning to "deep in what?"

I would imagine hard tack would have that effect but as his sword is drawn he could well be on his way to be cured of any constipation.

Green apples and corn would remedy the constipation problem. A reporter noted that after the Battle of Antietam that he could tell where the confederate lines of infantry were because of their excrement.

Doc, I read Gettysburg first and now I'm hooked on Sears. I also have his Chancellorsville book on order at the moment. I like the way he combines the on the ground tactical situation with the big picture. This is important for me beng a beginner.
I read Foote's triology to get a good grounding on the subject now I'm interested in reading up on the various campaigns and battles. After that unit histories and some of the personalities, oh and some more bookshelves.
