I'm new to this forum, though with a long time interest in CW history. I 'm researching for a friend who is setting up a musuem display. Any quick references to a person or place to get information about the homefront, etc. in the Western N.C. mountains would be appreciated.
Two books are paramount. They are:
Bushwhackers by Trotter
The Heart of Confederate Appalachian by Inscoe and McKinney.
Where is your friend wanting to concentrate their research? I’ve written extensively on Watauga County and the Toe River Valley (Avery, Mitchell, and Avery Counties). I’ve also written a little about Caldwell County.
