Used to paint minis for some guys who did... at least I think that was the tabletop mini rules sys they used. Been a while, come to think of it I used to play in the Quads. I had a Brigade of Western Federal minis... sold em to a fella don't know a name anymore. Should be easy enough to spot all wearing hardee hats and a battery of 3" rifles w/ white horses on the caissions. Used to play at a game store in downtown Moline and later at Mythical Realms across the river in Davenport. I don't think Dragon Sanctum ever had any historical mini games there. I know Mythical Realms is gone, Dragon Sanctum is still there I think is that hobby shop downtown Davenport still; there?

Johann,

There's some hobby shop on or near River Drive in Davenport. I don't know the name and have'nt been to it, but one of my pards pointed it out to me once. I've only lived in the area 7 years and still don't really know it that well, but my buddies tell me there aren't any hobby shops in the area (except that one) anymore. So, I have to order all my minis on-line......

By March, I should be finished with 2 divisions of Rebs and 9 batteries....Next, I need to start on some Cav, then get some Yanks painted. I have a 9 x 5 foot table, complete with grass, trees, bridges and buildings. You should come out and game with us sometime!

Usually, we play once a month. There's usually 4 or 5 that play, of that, 3 of us have tables.....one in Moline, one in Davenport, and mine in Aledo, IL (about 1/2 hour south of the Quad Cities). Don't know when the game for Feb. is. We rotate houses, and for Feb. we'll be in Davenport. In March, we should play at my house. If ya ever want to game on an "off" time, let me know. If ya want to go to Aledo, I'll borrow some Yanks from my pards and set up a scenario. On the avearge, each player gets a Division. We customarily start at 9:00 on Saturdays and can play from 9 untill 2'ish....sometimes we've played untill 5! It just depends on how the "battle" goes!

Last time I did a mini game it went from 0900 Saturday till 0200 Sunday. It was Waterloo, I had a Division under Marshall Ney clobbered them Low Country Allies but good turned South and was working over the Brits and had em on the run when them Pesky Prussians showed up. Talk about a cascading rout!

I'd love to meet up w/ you, though it would likely be in the eve during the week. God knows when I'll be back down the Quads way though. Trust me, I'll likely look you up when I get down that way.

Dixie Girl,

It's kind of hard to explain without showing you, but I'll try.

There are about 1,024 15 milimeter toy soldiers, making up 2 Yank Divisions and 2 Reb Divisions. The game table is set up to mimic a battlefield. It resembles the terrain of a large model rail road. My game table is 9 feet by 5 feet (about the size of a ping-pong table)....the tables some of my pards have are even larger than mine!

Using strategy, troops manuever to attack enemy troops. There are tables and charts dictating how far units in certain positiond\s can move (ie, line of battle, march column, skirmish). There are also charts showing casualty results based on dice rolls.

I know, sounds boring....but it can really be very challenging!
