How about "Breaker Morant" While not specifically a war movie by virtue of plot, the Boar War is the back-drop.

Defender that trapper in Wyoming would that have been John Colter formerly one of the members of the Lewis and Clark Corp of Discovery? The man who was the first white man to see Yellowstone Park? He was captured by the Blackfoot and forced to run naked for quite a distance to escape them. He is the one member of the Corps that didn't return east after the Trek west. He got permission to stay in the West from Lewis . There is a book John Colter Mountain Man that tells his story. Susan

Defender before I got so envolved with Civil War I was reading about and visiting Lewis and Clark sites . Still a favorite subject with me. Coulter was one of the men. The one that amazed me the most though was George Droullard (Drewyer) Hunter, Trapper, translator , amazing man. Was killed a few years after the return to St. Louis. Susan

Always liked Drums along the Mohawk , they even showed it to us in eighth grade history I remember. Wasn't that the French and Indian war? I just thought of something . Only a group like this would list movies from all the wars that ever existed as favorite War movies. Most people would just list WW2 movies I would bet. Which reminds me Henry V was sooo good. I love the St. Crispin day speech. Susan

How about "Hell is for Heroes"??? I always considered that a pretty good one. Or "Guadalcanal Diary"? Maybe not the "best" of war movies, but both are among my favorites. Happy Presidents' Day, y'all!

Blackhawk Down. Great movie but one where the book was of course better. Shaka Zulu. Remember that one? Mini series on tv I believe? But then I realize, I watched that as a little kid! Visions of human popsicles still haunt my nightmares! Last of the Mohicans. That is a great movie. Great for it's cinematography and soundtrack. I loved 300 and Apocalypto. What a violent world we live in.

Oh my goodness I had forgotten about Beau Geste. My brother and I watched that every time it was on when we were kids. Gary Cooper was so good in it. My brother even found the novel it was based on at the second hand bookstore in town. Susan
