When I was a kid in the '70's (not 1870's) my Dad gave me a tri-folded card with a penny glued to it. The penny also had Kennedy's head engraved on it. The tri-fold card had the exact same things printed on it as in Dixie Girl's first post.

I thought it was interesting then, and, in actuality, I still think it's interesting!

I remember exactly where I was when Kennedy was assassinated. I can even recreate the conversation when I went to the office (we had a radio on the floor, but the office didn't) and told them that Kennedy had been shot. They, of course, told me to get the hell out.

At the time, there was this kid making his way in the world at a Dallas TV station. His name was Dan Rather.

Ole basically the same experience.  I told my friend Victor to stop joking it wasn't funny .  I can even tell you what I was wearing .  The whole thing is a picture frozen in time.

You're saying that Dan Rather didn't report on the Kennedy assassination? Dang! I could swear I watched him commenting on it at the Pastor's house one evening. Oh well. Thanks for the update.
