A good way to start might be to identify the specific units in which your relatives served and the dates of their service. That should give you a good starting point. Then you can research the unit's history and find out in what campaigns and battles those units served.

Thanks. I'm not good on this dang thing tho. I've got 3 main groups to look for. The Burger's -- Bryner's and Hulslander's. I do have the Regiment and Company on a lot of them so I'll keep digging. Any help from anyone is appreciated. Thanks again.

In this genealogy forum, there are several threads. If you read a few threads, you will come up with a great many links that you can check. If you have regiments and companies, I understand that it's relatively easy to trace each for battles and such. I have no relatives to trace through the civil war, so I have no experience with the process, but I do know that there are a great many on the board who are intimately familiar with the process. Keep reporting. The cavalry is coming to the rescue. ole

It looks like I have more than I need to in the war's. Have most in the Union but there are a handful of Confederate's also. I'll keep reading. Starjet
