A redneck ain't nothing but a working man. He makes a living by the sweat on his brow and the calosus on his hands. Good words by Charlie Daniels. Every time I get called a redneck I tell the butthole "thanks" and crank up the CDB

I too am somewhat offended at the "redneck" image the media attaches to the south but it doesn't mean there isn't something inherently funny in a good old boy style joke. I too am a decendent of Southerners. I am proud of their courage, grit, and determination to build a life here after many difficult times in their native lands of Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales. While many of them were average, working class people; some where also quite prominent in history-William the Conquerer anyone?. My family has been here since Jamestown and is as much a part of the fabric of this country's history as anyone from north of the Mason Dixon and I'll be damned if I'll take their condescending attitude any more that I have to... but that being said I do love a good redneck joke. Humor is where you find it. My father was a redneck. In my "neck" of the woods, he was a farmer. When you're in the field from sunupt to sundown, there was no covering up the neck. It became quite tanned. And red. But there was no talk of rednecks. The feed store manager, the seed salesman, the insurance agent, the lawyer, the banker, the hatcheryman, the doctor, the pharmacist called no one a redneck. As I have no exposure whatsoever of what the southerner considers a redneck, I've got to stay out of this discussion. My father's neck was quite red; I've got a few years in on that myself. I simply don't see the perjorative. ole

Redneck has multiple connotations, some good others demeaning. Doc C (aka North La Redneck)
