Tony Horwitz who wrote the book I couldn't put down until I finshed it has just published a new book on history. Check it out. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/30/books/30horw.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

Confederates in the Attic is a favorite of mine . His wife writes a good book too. She has one about the Plague in England . I really enjoyed it too and for the life of me I cannot remember the title. I passed the book on to a friend so can't even search the bookshelf. She is the woman who wrote the book March a sequel to Little Women . The story about the March father and Marmee when she goes to nurse him. Sorry to say I havent read it although it won the Pulitzer Prize. I would rather read Civil War history than fiction about the Civil War . If I am reading fiction it is mysteries. Susan

Susan- When I feel like reading fiction, I read autobiographies.

Shani again thanks . I was totally blank on her name or the title. I read that book so long ago. Defender you made me laugh out loud . Amazing how much some people think of themselves in their autobiographies. Susan

Susan and ShaniFaye, for some reason the Plague has been a part of history that has fascinated me. The idea of any massive disease that takes out millions of people and the resultant impact on society grabs my attention regardless of the actual period of history. I'm glad to know about that book. It will have to wait though. This is the time of the year I seek out books about the Gettysburg Campaign, before, during and after. It is a good time for Chancellorsville and Vicksburg books, plus the Atlanta campaign started in May 1864.
