My GGG Grandfather, Frederick Zender, was born in Switzerland and emmigrated to Missouri.  He enlisted in the 26th Missouri Infantry in Franklin County, MO.  He was wonded at the Battle of Champion Hill near Vicksburg, Mississippi.  He was also promoted to 1st Lt after that battle.  He mustered out in Millers Station, GA in December 1864.  He then went back to Osage County, MO and married Mrs. Mary Harvey.  He died in March 1873 in Morrison, Gasconade, MO.

If anyone has any information on him, his family or his service with the 26th MO, please contact me.  Thanks so much in advance!
