Hey everyone, I am still a "newbie" here and trying to find time to visit to make posts and comments.
Something I've wanted to follow up on is related to a particular Union soldier buried in the old family cemetery near Stafford Courthouse, Virginia. It so happens that not only does the old family farmhouse still exist; although no longer owned by our family, but the old cemetery nearby which we are granted access rights to has a number of very old graves. Most are unmarked, and they include family members, slaves, and possibly Indians and unidentified soldiers from throughout the 19th century.
Specifically, one James E. Calvin, 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry, is buried on our plot.
I have attached a pic of the headstone, and a "blurb" about the incident from a local geneology website focused on our family cemetery.
