Dear Civil War Buffs, I have been busy the last week, speaking with authors of new books on the Civil War. Last Friday, July 3, I had the opportunity to interview author, James A. Hessler, about his new book, "Sickles at Gettysburg." This is a terrific, balanced book about the very controversial Civil War General, Daniel E. Sickles. I encourage you to check out the review, and the interview. The interview was quite special, as I conducted it at the Trostle Farm, the site of Sickles' III Corps headquarters at Gettysburg. Follow this link to check out the article: http://ThisMightyScourge.com/2009/07/05/interview-with-james-a-hessler-author-of-sickles-at-gettysburg/ Let me know what you think! Best Regards, Mike Noirot

Mike, Very interesting interview. I read CSA Gen. Porter Alexander's "Fighting for the Confederacy" a few months ago. He has a lot of critical comments on generals of both sides but he credits Sickels actions with significantly contributing to the union victory at Gettysburg. Joe Brown
