This weekend I attended the 2nd annual 6th GA Cavalry Regiment Decendent's Reunion in Kennesaw, GA. Although turn out was smaller than last years, a good time was had by all who were in attendance. Attached is a photograph of a ggg uncle who served in Company B 6th GA Cavalry, Merida Queen.

Merida enlisted in the 6th in April 1863 in Sweetwater, TN. He served throughout the war, though taking leave in 1864 to get  married. His pension application states that he was with the regiment at the surrender in North Carolina at war's end, his brother John also served in the same regiment, and was captured at Leets Tanyard on 12 September 1863 by members of Colonel John Wilder's Lightning Brigade. He spent the next two years in a POW camp.
