Just got back from the Baltimore Antigue Show. Picked up General Sherman as College President. Contains letters/diaries of Sherman when he was LSU's first president in 1860. What a great find for a true tiger fan!!!!! Doc C

Congrats on that great find. I hope you didn't have to shell out a fortune for the book. I enjoy the Antiques Road Show on PBS every once in awhile because it is cool if someone shows up with something from the Civil War. Even the History Channel Pawn Shop show has Civil War artifacts every so often.

I picked it up for a paltry sum. Great antique show as always but was disappointed in that Christopher Mitchell (Pointe Clear, Alabama) who does a great deal of civil appraisals on Antiques Roadshow wasn't there as he was on my last visit. Interesting person to talk to. Doc C

It might be a sign of these hard times that the treasure you picked up for a paltry sum sold for so little, or even that the book was for sale at all. As for me, I am glad that someone who really appreciated the value of this book was able to get it.
