Just read in the New York Times ( September 15, 2010) that Robert Redford has a new indie movie "The Conspirator" about Mary Suratt who was hung as one of the alleged conspirators in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln. The movie was picked up for distribution after the Toronto International Film Festival. It is hoped that the movie will be in theaters by next year. When I know more and know who is starring in the movie, I will post it here. I am absolutely psyched about this movie. Last edited on Thu Sep 16th, 2010 12:44 am by CleburneFan |

Actually Joe has this story in his daily news - I think it was from Monday. I was pretty excited (or psyched, whatever you kids say nowadays) when I read it about it, also. http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/wireStory?id=11616646

Thanks. That ABC article has more information than the New York Times article. Anyway, here is a link to IMDb.com that lists the entire cast and the parts they play. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0968264/

I see Javal has placed another link concerning this movie in today's Newswire. I REALLY hope this will be a good movie. I do have a little more faith in Robert Redford than I do in Maxwell. Hopefully Redford won't see the need to add gratuitous action and romance to an already fascinating story.

I so agree with you. It would be a pity if this serious story is turned into a silly romance. But I can't imagine that Redford would see a need to tart up this compelling story with sappy love.

I just hope the present the conspiracy in the same light as National Treasure: Book of Secrets. This was an attempt to garner Southern Independence and don't paint the Confederate Government as having an Idea it was going to happen

As much as the confederate leadership supported other missions similar to this I doubt Highly Lee, Davis, Johnston, or Breckenridge had any Idea that Lincoln was to be killed
