On January 6, 2011 James Ludwig passed away. James was severly injured in a motorcycle accident in the late 1990's James had been a long time member of the 3rd Alabama. He was by every description a misplaced confederate born 100 years to late to be a Solider in the civil war.  The words I can best think of are as Jackson put it as he was dying "Let us cross the river and rest under the trees" I know if you look under those trees Jim with all the other reenactors and real Soliders who went before him
