Hi, I am new to the forum, so forgive me if I make mistakes! I have an old muzzle-loading shotgun that I've owned for many years. It never occurred to me until I read a recent article about the use of shotguns in the Civil War that this one may have indeed seen action. The gun is about 38.5" in total length with about 22" barrels. It has an elaborate (silver?) moosehead patchbox and much engraving. The divider between the barrels reads "Imported by Andm_ Johnson & Co. Richmond, Va." and beneath that "London Fine Twist." There are no other names or numbers, etc. that I can find. The hammers are dolphin figurals. Gauge appears to be about 12 or a little smaller--a dime will go in about a quarter of the way. Any ideas about the possibility of this seeing CW action? (I will try and post photos later--wife is calling me for dinner! Thanks! Attachment: P1010178.JPG (Downloaded 25 times) Last edited on Wed Nov 30th, 2011 11:49 pm by jhamner |

Just wondering if anyone out there could tell me if this gun is old enough to have seen CW action and also, how I could find out more information about the importer, the gun, etc.--I have searched the 'net with no luck so far. Thanks!!!
