Anyone following the on-going discussion about the alleged spot where Gardner took the famous photographs collectively labeled 'Harvest of Death?

Scott Hartwig laid out his interpretation here: http://npsgnmp.wordpress.com/2011/05/26/a-mystery-solved-part-i-2/

John Cummings makes some telling corrections and clarifications here: http://spotsylvaniacw.blogspot.com/2012/01/gettysburg-harvest-of-death-location.html with some nice photographic overlays.

Garry Adelman pleads for patience here: http://www.gettysburgdaily.com/?p=13499.

I have to admit, Hartwig and Cummings make a compelling case...

Some times it seems as if battlefield guides and rangers come up with new interpetations to be noticed or cause a stir. I will continue to ride the Hartwig horse untill some convincing proof is given to counter it. Guides like appealate judges sometimes become too impressed with their own knowledge.

good point.

I fervently hope that the major impetus of the analysis is to gain some knowledge and identity of the men that have lain in photographic anonymity for almost 150 years...

John Cummings has convinced me of the location:

http://spotsylvaniacw.blogspot.com/2012/10/gettysburgs-harvest-of-death-conclusion.html

the terrain seems to match perfectly. the widow thompson's/lee's headquarters is a bonus. It's sensible that the photographer would include it in the shot to 'anchor' the upper right corner.

his location confirms gardner's original notes about being near the spot where reynolds was killed...
