Just thought I would share these again to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the battle of Shiloh. This is one of my favorite shoots at one of my favorite battlefields. I can still remember the lump in my throat as the sun was coming up over the Tennessee river, shining through that beautiful cemetery.....not ashamed to admit it brought tears to my eyes.

The New York Times has an excellent article today written by Winston Groom titled "Why Shiloh Matters." It has seven photos quite similar to the very moving photos taken by Capatin Crow above. In fact, Crow's photos would be a valuable addition to the NYT article.

Come to think it, Albert Sydney Johnston died 150 years today.

thanks for the kind words....I just try to do honor to all those brave young men(both sides)who cared about an ideal so much they gave their lives to support it. Fortunately for me, my ancestors came home to start families.

Those pics are beautiful...I wish someday I could visit tyhe battlegrounds...but am 65 and live in Cal with very little money ...so I guess my only alternative is to dream, and read......
