I am curious to see what the general consensus is regarding MG Ben Butler--not only as a commander but also as a politician (I think it is impossible to separate the two). When I first starting studying the Civil War, I found that I was 'supposed' to despise him as a bumbling political general. Now I am certain that there is much more to him than that. Mark
