Hello -
I'm working on a gift guide for Civil War enthusiasts and thought you folks might have some unique ideas -- anything from making a donation to a preservaton society in someone's names, to a particular book you recommend, to things you recommend to GET someone interested in this period in history.

Would also be interested in ideas for kids.

Thanks!

Donating to the Civil War Trust would be good for the Civil War buff who has everything already. They are the best preservation society. There are a few companies that do Civil War immersion camps over the summer for kids. I know that is something I would have loved as a youngster. The link is an example.

A gift certificate to abebooks.com... there is no such thing as too many books.

Different enthusiasts have different interests. My first suggestion would be to check CWI's own giftshop for ideas(yep javal, that's a plug for you).

Since you mentioned it I went and took a look. Not a bad selection of Civil War books, though I was amused to find the Civil War by Julius Caesar. :)

I seem to recall finding some trade paperbacks for Marvel Comics Civil War in there once too. As it's hooked to Amazon, I think Amazon is just selecting things with Civil War as a tag to them. But it is a good place to look for ideas for a gift guide.
