 I know right a South Carolinian yankee, just kiidin with you.
I am a member of Civil War Talk, which I enjoy with a passion. I have a curiosity for history because of my parents occupation of Military officers and that I am constently in that environment.
Thanks for allowing for me to join.

Aye lad, no need to fear Billy Bones' black spot, Hester Prynnes' scarlet letter, Henry Fleming's badge of courage; mayn't one begrudge the fanciful pursuits of youth?! If you can load a musket and draw a bead you are most welcome my end of the line. Your generation only is history's hope for redemption. Sincere greetings, young sir, well met.

Why getting so literary, Wondering? I'm counting Hawthorne, Stevenson, and Crane in your response. Ironic that two of them were alive to witness the war but the one who wasn't is the one associated with it.

My commentary towards Wondering's intellectual response aside, nothing wrong with an interest in history. My folks got me interested in it as a kid starting at a very young age. Can say I've gone from the 16th century through the late 20th century when it comes to visiting historic sites and objects in this country all before was 18.

What's a colt?:P

Actually, I'm no spring chicken myself. Not as old as some of the members on here, but I'm no teen or twenty-something either.

Keep your head down, pup. No place for libertarians in the monarchy.

History teaches us to hope... and that no matter how mucked up things get it isn't anything new.
