I've been looking for some good online civil war RPG's.  I found one but they still haven't contacted me back.
Does anyone know any good online civil war RPG's?

Hi, CJ, you asked about RPGs.  The only thing I know is rocket-propelled grenades, a handy little anti-personnel weapon, but not quite ready for field use during the Civil War.

You must have something else in mind.  What does it mean?

Nosy old ladies want to know.  Double chin-grin ---> ((:

There used to be 3-4 really good ones out there; they were shut down by rather nasty infighting... got political on one, "What if" on another and at least two I know of were co-opted by racist mud slinging.  Can be fun if worked right... but can get very ugly if the wrong sort get involved.

http://www.civilwartalk.com had a letter writing RPG going in the re-enactor forum for a while... it died largely due to other factors.

Ladies and gentlemen,

sorry for digging up this old thread but for all of you who are interested in the middle of the 19th Century and the conflict that raged between the Union and the Confederacy this might be of interest to you:

http://19thcenturywbts.forumotion.com/forum.htm

A small group of people is hard at work to build a free MMORPG with the title "19th Century - War between the States". It will be a mixture between Role Playing and Strategy game and have a political as well as an economical layer as well.

While the community is still pretty small we are always looking for people to help or who are interested in the historical period and have a zeal for role playing.

Currently things are forum based and the team is working hard on the basics of the game - be it images or stats of weapons, units, buildings, ships and other vehicles, items,... - in addition to that we are also starting to discuss professions and their relationship to the basic skills and the possibility to gain advanced and sophisticated skills to be able to gain a sound knowledge in the profession your character will pick up.

We are definitely looking to make things interesting whether your character is a farmer, a politician, a ship captain, a factory owner, a soldier, a surgeon, a prospector, an engineer... and since we aim for the possibility to open up all positions for our players one can be everything from the President of the Union (after joining a successful party and winning the presidential elections), to commander of a military unit or the head of a flourishing company.

The main target is to provide an authentic 19th century environment set in the time of the US Civil War but following an alternate timeline to open up all positions for our players and thus give them the chance to develop their own history, their own politics, their own version of the civil war - separate from the continuity of what happened in RL during that time (but still linked to it in certain ways - f.e. the uniforms, the level of technology that is available,...). So the bottom line is that there is no Abraham Lincoln, no Robert E. Lee, no Ulysses S. Grant - because it's up to our players to rise to those positions if they want to and to be confronted with all those decisions these men had to deal with - maybe they'll do better, maybe they'll do worse - only time will tell.

If this strikes your interest and if you are into role playing I hope you will drop by the forum and check out the Game Information thread in the public section, since it gives you an overview of everything that is planned and explains the sign up process as well for those who want to join. You'll also be able to peek at the current time line of the game (though it is still a work in progress) - we are currently just a few months before the outbreak of the war as we wanted to give our veteran members the chance to really experience the secession and be able to tell in character stories about this.

Official RP has already started on the forum - the US Government is currently being build up, we've news coverage about IC events from both pro-northern and pro-southern papers, sound character history pages and more. In addition to that we got several scenarios running - one themed and moderated scenario and two unmoderated role playing threads (one for civilians and politicians and the other one for military personnel).

Maybe I see you there!

In any case let me hear your thoughts on all of this and what you think about our venture to make an alternate history game of that proportions and set in that historical period.

Does anyone know if these will work on Win 7?
They're listed for XP.

Lake has been a member with our game - he sniffed around, gathered everything that our members worked on and then went behind out backs :(
