They were SUPPOSED to film MANHUNT a few years ago and had Harrison Ford attached to star as the fella who hunts Booth down.  Word on the street was that Ford had them add more scenes (that were NOT factual) to beef up his part.

It was supposed to go into pre-production about 2-3 yrs ago and then just quietly disappeared.

MANHUNT might work as a film, but to do LAST FULL MEASURE, it would work better as a mini-series (which TV networks hardly make anymore).

Sadly, studios look at Civil War films as old history (literally) and the kids are not going to be interested in it.  That mentality is what kills most possible productions.

If a Civil War themed movie is ever going to be made, we have to think outside the box. You need action and battle scenes, romance and sex, and intrique. Of course all of this while deviating from the true story as little as possible. There's only one that fits the bill:

A movie about the life of Earl Van Dorn.

Robert Downy Jr. is too old to play Booth , Booth was 27 years old when he died.  We need a young man to play him .  All the consipitors were young even Mrs. Surratt was in her early 40's .

It would be funnier to put a wider moustache on Donnie Osmond and have him portray Earl Van Dorn.

I could see Johnny Depp as Booth or even one of the Conspiritors only problem is Tim Burton or Disney would need to be involved and I dont want Disney or Burton touching anything Civil War.. Burton already ruined the Legend of Sleepy Hallow and I'm waiting to see how Disney ruins Blackbeard (POTC) though National Treasure I & II were good wait  Christian Camargo  played John Wilkes Booth in National Treasure II http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0131235/.. And if anyone says any Twilight actor your at the wrong place..

Johnny Depp would be good, as well as Colin Farrell, who is suitably intense. HBO is also supposed to be developing a mini-series on the Lincoln Assassination. This one though will focus not so much on Booth but on others, known and unknown who were affected by the events on the night of April 14th...Zouave61

Do me a favor please, don't mention Sleepy Hollow. That shouldn't be said to be based on Irving's classic short story but very loosely based on it. Could we get someone to do a good big screen version of the story that actually follows it?

AS for Booth, I could see Depp possibly pulling off Booth if things were done right.
