Ran across this posting on the gettysburg battlefield guide site. Thought it might interest those of you who like trivia (couldn't think of a better term). Some of these took quite a bit of research. http://www.gettysburgtourguides.org/faqs-140plcs.html Doc C

Thanks Doc, I usaually get to Gettysburg 10 to 12 times a year. Now I have a new challange when I go. Try to find all 140 places. Heres a link to rock carvings on the battlefield that you guys can hunt for. It was lots of fun. Happy hunting. http://gburginfo.brinkster.net/battlefieldcarvings.htm

One of my guide friends told me that in reality, most guides don't know half of those places. I find that easy to believe considering I basically live there and have never even heard of most of them.

I checked out the list and was (pleasantly) surprised to find that I knew and had visited quite a few of them! I might like to add the marker for "Co.B, 20thME".. which is half hidden as you go up LRT; go to the right at the base, right before going up the hill. I wish there was something they would do for the rock carvings! Specifically, Vincent's Rock. I nearly pushed some yahoo off not long ago when he attempted to climb on it. The carving there is almost gone; other carvings stand out very clear (Coble(sp?) is one).
