Just saw an ad on TV this morning while I was watching "Civil War Journal" announcing a new History Channel special to be aired April 22,2007 at 9PM/8c. It is "Sherman's March." The ad shows a few scenes and the actor who plays Sherman has some things to say about the filming. I'm not clear if it will be done as straight history like most History Channel shows or if it will be done as a drama in the manner of "Gods and Generals." I'm also not sure if it will be one hour or longer. I don't think it will be a series. Just thought I'd give a heads up on this presentation in case anyone would be interested.

Thanks for the heads-up, Fan. History Channel presentations are not always totally accurate, but they are always worth watching. Ole

I'm not sure about that Ole; I remember how much I was almost screaming at the TV when I saw a show on the Cav of the CW era... so grossly wrong I was furious. Wonder what the folks in the next hotel room over were thinking? I don't trust the History channel to put forth a good, unbiased, well researched work on Sherman and his men. I suppose it will depend on what they use as their primary source. Imagine if you will something along the lines of Battalion, Hal or Thea pushing their agenda... scares the heck out of me and in the current environment of enthusiastic anti-US/anti-military in Hollyweird I don't know what to expect. I trust you or Steve Cone to let me know whether or not it turns out to be hog slop.

Johan so glad to know someone else yells at the tv when there is a major mistake in a story . I don't get cable or dish so I can only watch history channel when I am traveling . I did watch one that I kept arguring with though the whole show Of course then there was the PBS show on Jesse James where the outlaws coming riding at the screen , one fires his handgun held sideways gansta style . I think my next door neighbor hear me yell NO!!!!!!!!

I only watch the History Channel if it is about the history of peanut butter, construction equipment, alien abduction or the Davinci Code, everything else on that channel is crap

I plan to watch it as a mental exercise to play "Catch the Errors".

We can start a thread after the show starts and compare the errors we noticed if, indeed, there are any. It could be fun. Last edited on Wed Apr 4th, 2007 10:59 pm by CleburneFan |

Just to let everyone know, I just received, via UPS, a review copy of this. I'll be watching it tonight, and hope to have a review done within a couple af days.

Can't wait to read your review, but even if you give the show a failing grade, I'll still watch just for the fun of seeing what is right and what is wrong. I'm hoping the show will be as good as the current "The Tudors" on Showtime.

CF - After reading the press kit that came with the review copy, I learned that I'm not allowd to post any review until the 16th. Since the show airs on the 22nd, have to admit I don't see the logic in that. I watched about 15 minutes of it today, and ....let's just say nit-pickers will have a field day Here's a little time-waster for ya all.... http://www.civilwarinteractive.com/ShermanGame.htm

That was a fun game...once I figured out how to play it. Of course books on Sherman would be logical choices too. (That goes without saying. Last edited on Fri Apr 6th, 2007 12:09 am by CleburneFan |
