Was reading the post on the new James movie coming up and remembered  quotes from movies that we always do at reenactments. Got me to wondering what is everyones favorite movie quote thought it might be fun.

1) " you got really pretty hands wanna keep em" (while pulling colt)

     "just a request mister"

"I got a request of my own im a good old rebel"  (gold piece optional)     -----                                                                                                                      Longriders

2) " you gonna draw those pistols or whistle dixie?" ----- Outlaw Josey Whales

"Treat her right. Take a bath sometime." (The Big Country)

"Put that in your book."

"Someone back East is goin' 'Now why don't he write?'" (Dances With Wolves)

"I'm lookin' at a tin star with a drunk pinned on it."

"I'm paid to risk my neck. I'll decide where and when I'll do it." (El Dorado)

"The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days." (Judge Roy Bean)

"This country aint big enough for the two of us." (The Virginian)

"Now when I was a baby, mama named me after the great Civil War hero General Nathan Bedford Forrest. She said we was related to him in some way. And what he did was He started up this club called the Ku Klux Klan. They'd all dress up in their robes and their bedsheets and act like a bunch of ghosts or spooks or somethin'. They'd even put bedsheets on their horses and ride around." (Forrest Gump)

Course then you have to add any Dirty Harry, Monty Python and Austin Powers quotes in there too.

Great thread.  I was laughing just thinking of all the classic lines to list.

Tell me about the rabbits Geoge.    Of Mice and Men

I'll have what she ordered   Harry Met Sally

and my most favorite is from Five Easy Pieces when Jack Nicholson orders toast.  It's the whole scene.  Classic movie scene.

I know none are Civil War but those are my favorite. Plus so many lines in Twelve Chairs,  YoungFrankenstein and Blazing Saddles .

"Gone with the Wind" is loaded with cool quotes. One I particularly love and in fact it has sustained me many a time is when Scarlett O'Hara says, "I'll think about it tomorrow."

That has to be said just right. Preferably you need an apron to wring or failing that a skirt or even a blouse to wring pathetcally, then get exactly the right helpless high-pitched whine as you say "the phrase." Oh, yeah...I have that act down pat.:D:D:D

Young Lobo, I love John Wayne. I wish I could remember some of his best quotes. There were goodies in "Rooster Cogburn" and also in his best "non-western," the Kenyan drama "Hatari."

Younglobo and CleburneFan,

John Wayne is pretty good as far as the quotes go.  I think his best advice was "Talk low, talk slow and don't say too much."

Just to many quotes to list them all.

But one of my favorites.  That explains alot to me  about those that didnt serve during the WBTS.

Charlie  Andersons reply to Confederate Cav. officer Mr. Johnson when told that Va. need all of her sons.

"Theses are my sons Mr Johnson , they dont belong to the state. When they were babies I never saw the state come around with a spare teet. We never asked for anything & we never expected  anything"  James stewart as Charlie Anderson in Shenandoah

When our youngest daughter (who always chose Miss Scarlet at the Monopoly board) announced she was pregnant, our middle girl promptly answered with the perfect whine and twisting of T-shirt, "Miss Scahlett, Ah don' know nothin' 'bout birthin' babies."  We cracked up.

The youngest had a boy, then two girls.

A memorable one for me was in the movie: "City Slickers."

Billy Crystal, playing the dude , asks Jack Palance, playing the old cowboy:

"Did ya kill anyone today?"

Jack Palance's character smiles and says: "Day ain't over yet."
